Hello, I have a problem regarding the Windows 7 Firewall and Outlook: Windows Firewall was set to 'block' outbound connections, means you need a rule for applications to make outbound connections.
Select an underlined value, choose the options you want, and then select OK. Name the rule, setup rule options, and review the rule description. Click an underlined value to edit. Certain rules will only run when Outlook is on. If you get this warning, select OK.
Manage email messages by using rules. Organize email by using inbox rules in Outlook. Table of contents. Organize your inbox. I have a number of rules to automatically move messages from certain people to folders below the Inbox. I'm noticing that on the Win7 machine the messages are appearing very briefly in the Inbox, then being moved to the appropriate folder, but apparently this is enough time for Outlook to decide to show the "envelope icon" "you have new un-open items" in the taskbar.
This wasn't a problem on the WinXP machine, but it's quite a bother now under Windows 7 as I get a lot of automated email from various systems and I'm always thinking that it's a "real" email from someone. I haven't been able to figure out what, exactly, the problem is, or what I can do to resolve it. When you check the option you may see the envelope icon:. Tools, options, preference, Email options, advanced email options, when new item arrive in my inbox , mark on show an envelope icon in the notification area.
They will migrate with the PST file but only if you do the migration correctly. They will still need to be reset to their new location before they wil work. Exporting and importing from RWZ files is no longer necessary, but can still be used. Trying to go back to an earlier version of Outlook is problematic, especially when it is now out of sync with the rest of Office.
The only "hoop" you must jump through is to create a new Outlook profile from scratch and reconnect it properly to your data file. From the sound of it, you did not do that correctly or there would have been no other "hoops" through which to jump. Any chance you kept a good backup copy of you Outlook data file before you started all this mess?
Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. Of course this took over an hour trying to figure out what the opening error message meant about using a profile with a version and finding online help that gave sufficient detail for correcting it.
