Installing Creative's Vista driver for Xtreme Gamer soundcard. Second test installing soundcard drivers After rebooting and installing the soundcard drivers I took battlefield for another spin. And how surprising and everybody saying that Creative makes the game crash It didn't.

Nothing happened that made the game crash. I did get the well known cracking sound when an airstrike occured but not all the time. And also within the first 30 min of playing i got the regular freeze up in the game.

This is a moment where the game freezes for 2 seconds or so and then continous. And when attacked by a walker i did get some lag as well but that happened also before installing the soundcard driver. Conclusion; Creative is not the problem.

At this point I'm still running my system at default speeds. It's time to putt the pedal to the metal.

Third Test overclocking the system My first attempt for overclocking was as following. CPU running at 3,2 ghz and the memory at the stock speed it was designed for, mhz at timings.

With this test i wanted to know if my cpu was giving problems didn't think so but i checked to be sure. I ran the game for mulltiple hours and again no problems aside from the cracking airstrike sound and the freeze up.

Ps the freeze up happens only once during every gaming session. After that the game runs fine without any conflicts. It's not everyday sience! My CPU is liquid cooled and my memory modules are cooled by 2 fans which are on the modules. Also I modded my by taking off the whole case and putting a 80mm fan on the heatsink so the internal parts of my system will stay cool. I also have 4 fans blowing air out of the chassis so that no hot air will stay inside tha case.

Conclusion: Moderate overclocking does not have a negative affect. Positive even since loading times are reduces significantly and the game doesn't lag. Fourth Test putting some more juice into the system I'm an overclocker and I like to run things as fast as they can be. So i overclocked my CPU to 3,6 ghz and my modules to mhz timings trust me these modules can handle the stress and I tested them extensively. I'm quite excited at this point since this was the same setup i used before making a clean install of my system.

I played for hours and hours without a hassle!!! Loading times were even shorter and the game ran as smooth as possible! I wass so glad that my hardware was not the issue why battlefield crashed. I wanted to make extra sure it wasn't my hardware so I played the rest of the week with these settings for many hours in a row without a BSOD. Conclusion: Extensive overclocking does not have a negative affect.

All the hardware is fine i know the hard drive has a corrupt cluster but I will get back on that later. All the drivers are fine! The game runs FINE! I installed Northern Strike and performed the 1. In my case it happened as following. I figured that maybe it's my memory that can't handle the game's intence processes so lowered my memory timings to I ran the game again and no BSOD anymore! I am surprised at this point because without the booster pack the game runs fine with memory timings at , but with it I have to alter the timings.

I also noticed on other very strange thing. When I lowered my timings to the game loaded slightly faster then witht the timings.

I played several hours using these timings in conquest maps only and no errors occured. After this I tried to play a titan map and everything worked fine loading times, playing the game etc. I could enter the titan but before the minimap changes the game hangs for like 1 second, but i was glad to continue playing because before i did the fresh install of the system the game would hang and give me the BSOD locked pages error when I entered the titan.

After running around in the titan for about 20 seconds i got killed and when I pressed ENTER to go into the equipment menu the game hangs and gives me the process has locked pages error. I will continue testing with these settings and play different maps titan, conquest etc so I'm sure it's only in titan maps or that it happens randomly when you press ENTER.

But for now I will give the following conlclusion of my tests. Given the facts in this case I think the booster pack does something to the memory allocation vga memory or physical is not certain and I cannot test.

Lowering the timings helps alot but doesn't solve the problem completely. This last option will make your desktop look like windows 95 but the reason for it is that the windows desktop in combination with AERO interface uses up alot of memory.

By setting this to best performance the system will use alot less resources. After this updat i didn't have any BSOD with the newest nvidia drivers. So it's not Nnidia. I will make another test case for this problem which are the following tests; - continue testing with current settings as above to check if the error occurs occasionally or specifically - returning all the hardware values to default speeds so I can rule out overclocking of memory - installing extra 2 gig of RAM 4 gig total - using 3 gig relocating by MAD BORIS check this guy out, he's really good in solving hardware issues.
